Cultural heritage: a strategic resource for a sustainable Europe

During a meeting on 20 May, the Council of the European Union has adopted important conclusions on cultural heritage recognising it as a strategic resource for a sustainable Europe. 

Amongst other things, the conclusions' document calls member states and the European Commission within their respective spheres of competence, to encourage the funding, development and dissemination of digital cultural content as well as the availability of innovative heritage-related services of cultural and educational value to citizens, and promote public access to those digital heritage resources and services, including via Europeana.
